"TRILOTH. This fearful matter is powerful enough to move mountains and create water and fire from nothing. TRILOTH is the essence of creation and a mystery beyond mere human comprehension."
(Teppo the Archeologist)
Quote-deco

TRILOTH is dark energy, left over from the terraforming process of Gaia. It can be controlled by a spell that forms TRILOTH into a sphere of incredibly destructive energy. It is a magnificent threat[1] and when cast by Mesmeroth, is so powerful that it destroys most of the White City and causing wide-spread cascading destruction.

Appearance[]

TRILOTH appears as a sphere of glowing red, purple, yellow and blue-ish colors. The elements of the sphere are in constant motion, letting the colors flow fluently around the sphere's center.

Description[]

TRILOTH is the dark force of creation.[2] It is frightening even by The Great Chronicler's standards.[3] It serves the chaos beyond the physical world, forging destinies as it wishes[4], with such power that not even the Great Chronicler can stop it.[5]

The inscription is at the bottom of the frame.

TRILOTH is mentioned on the monoliths of Source. The first monolith shows the descend of the Beacons and their Emblems from an unknown origin world down to Gaia, which is labeled in Arcadian script as "TRILOTH Reserve".

Hermit surmises that TRILOTH has a toxic effect on the world, which remained even after the Catastrophe as the curses on the Emblems hindered the healing process of the world.[6]

Note on conflicting information[]

In Monster of Uncharted Seas, it is stated several times that it was TRILOTH that lifted Sky Island into the air.[2] At the same time, it is suggested that the Grand Core's Teramite Engine is keeping Sky Island up, as it's shutdown would allow the island to descent back into the ocean.[7] In Oceanhorn 2, it is revealed that the Grand Core is meant to power a spaceship and lift it off of Gaia's surface into its orbit (and beyond).[8][9][10] It is build right underneath the Palace of the White City and Archimedes's last act is to start the operation of the Grand Core. Thus, it is not quite clear which of the two destructive forces, the Grand Core or TRILOTH, is ultimately responsible for the floating land masses.

"A Gift from the Shadow - TRILOTH is leftover dark energy from the terraforming process of Gaia. After the glaciers had been melted and Gaia was ready to receive the Beacons, TRILOTH was buried deep in the deserts of the Outlands. Now, with the help of the Shadow, Mesmeroth unleashes TRILOTH on the White City, initiating the Catastrophe and gradually leading into melting of the existing glaciers."

Version on X: “Triloth is a spell of unimaginable power that Mesmeroth has learned thanks to the Shadow, the final threat he is ready to unleash on the White City if Archimedes doesn't yield. While the High Philosopher[sic] thinks that his Living Fortresses can take on Triloth, no one is sure how this battle will end.”

Trivia[]

  • There is a noticable number of times when "as we speak" is being used in relation to TRILOTH approaching the White City. Twice by Mesmeroth himself, once by Master Mayfair and once by Kenar.[11][12][13][14]
