Fishing is a side activity that is unlocked through normal story progression. The fishing rod is given as a gift to the Kid by Meeto,^[1] after the Festival of Sun takes place and the Kid lights up the fireworks on Humming Hill with Neeti.

How to fish[]

Employ the fishing rod anywhere near water. Once a fish bites, it will try to escape either to the left or right. In order to catch a fish succesfully, move the fishing rod to the opposite side of the fish's swimming direction. Eventually the fish gives up and is caught (or escapes and is free).

Type	Description	Image
Arcadian Pike
Blue Fin	When about to be caught, this fish will jump in the opposite direction.
Botfish	Robotic fish off the coast of the Arcadia Ruins in the Uncharted Seas. It will send an electrical jolt up the fishing rod every few seconds, damaging the hero.
Fireback
Ghost Fish	Ghost Fish are the rarest fish and can only be fished after reading the book on the bed, of the house on the mountain, on Island of Whispers. Unlike most fish, it will reverse the controls and require you to move in the same direction as it is going.
Goliath
Sol Fish	Most common fish which can be found anywhere across the Uncharted Seas.

In Oceanhorn 2, when the party visits the Great Lagoon of Submeria, Gen makes a reference to both the Ghost and Goliath fish as a response to Trin wanting to jump into the water for a swim.^[2]
